Fashion site Refinery 29 is look for a Washington, D.C. Editor. The Washington, D.C. Editor will work closely with the site Senior Editor and Managing Editor to concept and produce Refinery29’s D.C. newsletter and site. The D.C. Editor will oversee the day-to-day production and maintenance of all daily D.C.-centric fashion/culture/news/lifestyle content and daily newsletter features. The D.C. Editor will be responsible for writing, project management, scheduling, and assigning stories to contributors, as well as keeping a sharp eye on performance, social media strategies, and local audience growth and engagement. The D.C. Editor will work closely with top editors in creating and maintaining a short- and long-term Washington, D.C. editorial calendar, as well as working with the creative team in conceiving original visuals and graphics. The D.C. Editor should have a wide range of local contacts, strong social skills, established on-site reporting abilities, and aggressive follow-up tactics.
• A minimum of 3 years in a blogging and/or online production/media role
• Healthy addiction to the Internet, fashion, and pop culture
• Experience working with social media and SEO strategies
• Strong almost obsessive knowledge of DC fashion, shopping, and style as well as other lifestyle categories including home, dining, and entertainment
• Experience in HTML and Photoshop
• Must be quick on his/her feet with a real talent for generating and finding fresh engaging content not just daily but hourly
• Must be highly organized
• Must be team-oriented, responsive, and comfortable collaborating but can also work independently
