30 Oct Tory Burch’s Take on DC
On Thursday October 27th, Tory Burch spoke to POLITICO about what her take on the district and its fashion scene is. Burch was in town hosting a party at her Tyson’s Galleria Boutique to benefit the Rebecca Project for Human Rights. On the subject of DC, she said, “I love it down there. It’s a very sophisticated place. I definitely check in to Cafe Milano at some point because I absolutely adore their food. The Hirshhorn Museum has a great collection of modern art. I like to walk around Georgetown and to eat at Chef Geoff’s. One of my brothers lives in Alexandria, and my other brother went to Georgetown University, so I get down there pretty often.” When asked about Michelle Obama’s recent State Dinner fashion choice, the designer praised FLOTUS: “I think she has had many great fashion moments and she dresses beautifully. Her style is noticed around the world, and that’s a great thing for fashion and for Washington. Doo-Ri [Chung], she is a designer that is not that well known and it’s great to give her that recognition. It was a beautiful dress … one of my favorites.” Not shying away from talk of politics, Burch also addressed what she would like to see discussed in the upcoming election, “I’m looking forward to them talking more about the issues. I think job creation for women, equality in pay, violence prevention, reproductive health, investing in women are all important topics.”
Good to know that at least this top designer thinks DC is ‘sophisticated’ !
