Attention all DC Dems: Marc Jacobs and Thakoon are releasing some cute and fun pet gear in preparation for the upcoming 2012 Presidential election. As part of the Runway to Win campaign, Obama supporters can buy their fav pooch a Marc Jacobs “I Bark for Obama” tee or pick up a patriotic collar and leash designed by Thakoon.

I can see it now, strolling through the city and seeing a Yorkie leading his owner by a Thakoon leash. Or a Bichon in his/her Jacobs tee. I am curious to see how effective this form of campaigning will be. In the past, the Obama campaign has been successful at gaining voter support by taking a more sentimental approach. I guess time will tell how influential this will be in President Obama’s re-election. Let’s not forget the Mitt Romney campaign is hip to these campaigning tools and the importance of social networking to attract potential voters and gain support. Let’s see how long it will take before we see a dog decked out in a “Ruff for Romney” tee.

Man’s best friend has signed up for campaign season and I can’t wait to see D.C.’s finest pups out and about in their campaign gear!
