26 Jun Rachel Zoe A Fashiontonian? YES, RZ’s DC Connection
by ATFDC Contributor Barbara Collins
What isn’t there to love about George Washington University alumni, Rachel Zoe? Yes, the vintage fashion queen’s alma mater is right here in the heart of our National’s Capital! The biggest leading celebrity stylist in the US is THE ultimate triple threat! She is a stylist to the A-list, fashion designer, and a mother to an adorable baby boy who, by the way has an impeccable sense of style! We have all grown to love her and her playfulness on the Bravo show, “The Rachel Zoe Project” that keeps us glued to our seats and craving to see what celebrities she will style for the day. She released her first fashion line back in the beginning of 2011 and received honorable reviews and the pieces have graced top magazine covers, red carpets, reality shows, and various other venues.
While attending the George Washington University, she studied sociology and psychology. While there, she met her husband Roger Berman who is the president of Rachel Zoe Inc. in New York City. After graduating with no background in fashion, she started working in freelance for magazines like Gotham and YM. She got her start by styling celebrities like Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan. Not only did she style celebrities for red carpet events, but also daily runs to places like Starbucks or while shopping. Remember seeing your favorite celebs back in 2004-2005, wearing oversized sunglasses, boho bags, and maxi dresses? That was all Rachel Zoe.
As you know, here at ATFDC we always like to showcase our favorite Fashiontonians (Fashionable Washingtonians for those who are not yet familiar with our term) and Rachel Zoe is definitely one of them! If you would like to purchase items from Rachel Zoe’s line you are in luck! As my fellow ATFDC writer Susan Stipanovich wrote in the Examiner, CUSP by Neiman Marcus in Georgetown, released a Rachel Zoe boutique earlier this year inside of their stores. Discover all of your desired pieces, from dresses to shoes to handbags.
