02 Aug Fashion’s Biggest Month of the Year: What To Expect In DC In September

With September quickly approaching (yes summer is coming to an end) fashionistas worlwide have so much to look forward to. Not only will we all be receiving the year’s largest edition of Vogue in the mail, but we get to look forward to the fashion industry’s biggest month of the year as well!
With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 in New York among the biggest fashion events this September, I started to think about the “trickle down” effect the Big Apple’s fashion scene will be having on DC. In this piece I will give you some insight into fashion-focused September events happening here in DC.
On September 6th, 2012, Georgetown will host its very own “Fashion Night Out.” That’s right, just like Paris and New York and many other cities around the world. From 6-11 pm over 100 Georgetown stores, restaurants and salons will contribute to a night dedicated to style and entertainment, allowing for it to only feel right to splurge on a brand new wardrobe. Also celebrating Fashion’s Night Out is the City of Alexandria. Businesses throughout the city will host and feature exciting events from cocktails, restaurant specials, music, fashion shows, trunk shows and exclusive style events. From September 14th-16th, Rizik‘s located at 1100 Connecticut Avenue NW will be hosting an Alvina Valenta Bridal Trunk Show for those of you tying the knot in the next year and want to be one of the most fashionable brides around.
On Monday September 17th at the Carnegie Institute the TC Wallace Foundation will be combining fashion and a good cause by hosting their “Love Is Red Youth Rocking The Runway” displaying local designer’s collections while raising awareness and funds for adolescents affected by the HIV/AIDS virus to be complete a higher education. The preshow event which you won’t want to miss starts at 6:30pm and the show goes on at 8pm on the night of the 17th. That same week on Thursday September 20th from 6-10pm, Dirty Martini (1223 Connecticut Ave NW) will host a fashion networking party with lifestyle bloggers, stylists, models, designers, and retailers.
