DIY’ing At Fashion Boot Camp: The Little Collage Clutch – Guest Contributor Kiah Leigh Rhode
by ATFDC Guest Contributor Kiah Leigh Rhode
My last week of July was spent with 15 teens DIY’ing in Fashion Boot Camp hosted by Fashion Fights Poverty at the Artisphere. Needless to say it was awesome. My favorite item was also the easiest to create: a little collage clutch.
adhesive velcro dots
First, cut the holes off the side of the sheet protector, making sure that it is still sealed on the side.
Then create your collage. Some girls kept it monochrome, others added feathers or lace trim. Think outside the box, and get creative!
Then place your sheet in the the protector, and fold in thirds like an envelope. Staple down the sides. You can cover the the staples with the duct tape, which is used as trim. Otherwise, just stitch up the sides, and add your velcro dots as a closure.
You can use this as a wallet, but I like to use it as a clutch for those nights when I know it might get a little crazy. It’s waterproof, and you won’t hate yourself if you ruin it!
