So as Fashiontonians, we all know what its like to sit in crazy DC traffic, whether its on the beltway or in the city. We also know what its like to miss our alarm clocks, making us late ON TOP OF still having to sit in DC traffic. I am here to explore different products to reduce the time it takes to get ready in the morning with the help of multi-purpose beauty products, if you will.

Have tired eyes and won’t be able to grab a cup of coffee until you get to the office? Hide the fact that you overslept with an eye illuminator, a product that takes away the appearance of bags and brightens up your face, also great when you don’t have time to apply full-on eyeshadow! L’Oreal’s Double Extend Eye Illuminator can be found for less than 10 bucks at Ulta in downtown Silver Spring at 914 Ellsworth Drive. This product is essential for tired eyes and even doubles as an eye-liner on the other end of the dual sided stick!

Along with an eye illuminator, volumizing mascara will help do the trick- just one application of Covergirl’s Lashblast Volume Blasting Waterproof Mascara with one touch will leave your lashes full and ready for your day! And the best part? This miracle wand is waterproof, smudgeproof and smearproof , great for on the go and can be found at practically any drug store for under $10.

Need a fast hint of color and a great staple item for multiple uses in your purse? A Maryland born and developed brand; Rosebud Salve’s Lip Balm is awesome as a lip balm with a rosey tint (and is also great for healing dry spots, minor cuts and burns). Available in tins or tubes its a key essential item for on the go or at home. This locally made product and beauty brand can be found at retailers like the Sephora in Georgetown located at 3065 M Street Northwest.

Tigi Bed Head  Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo is super absorbent and volumizing for all hair types and will take away the unwanted shine, leaving you with a clean hair feel whether you want to wear your hair down or pull it up into a bun. Since I am a firm believer in moisturizing daily, I will not eliminate a moisturizer no matter how short on time you are. However, I have found that Bare Minerals’ (an American made brand) Advanced Protection SPF 20 Moisturizer is a quick drying, all day hydrator that goes on easy and protects your skin daily from harmful UV rays. Not to mention, all Bare Minerals products are made from all natural ingredients that provide your skin with the nutrients it needs on a daily basis. This multi-use hydrator can also be found at retailers who carry the Bare Minerals line such as the Sephora in Georgetown.

Now, the most important part- I suggest any working woman has an idea of two staple outfits that are the ultimate “go to” for when you are running late but still want to look fabulous and feel comfortable during the work day. Of course black is any woman’s first thought when needing a staple piece, I suggest a black jumpsuit like the Italian Crepe Sleeveless Jumpsuit by designer Andrea Lieberman at Intermix Boutique (3222 M Street Northwest).

This comfortable and not to mention flattering jumpsuit is work appropriate and can be paired with endless accessories, shoes or cover-ups. A great staple piece for day or night. Believe it or not, in today’s fashion world, cheetah print is becoming more and more of a staple item because of it’s natural hues, I suggest pairing the black jumpsuit with a pair of cheetah flats that will become such a key part of your every day wardrobe. Try these Cheetah Loafers found at Aldo in Georgetown at 3237 M Street NW.

Finally, every woman knows that a blazer can go a long way, a red blazer will add some great color blocking to your go-to staple outfit and make it look like you put a lot of fashionable consideration into your look! Urban Outfitters in Chinatown at 737 7th Street NW has a soft knit fitted red blazer to complete your “last-minute” look.

Whether you are running late and you know DC traffic is going to be terrible or you just want to cut down on the time it takes for you to get ready and spend more time under the covers just remember these key beauty products to make your eyes pop, your hair appear clean, your lips glossed and your skin moisturized and protected. Now go home, and plan a staple outfit to go to every once in a while for those mornings where you rather sacrifice blow-drying time for a Starbucks run.
