Lunchtime Shopping by a Self-Professed Shopaholic

Lunchtime Shopping by a Self-Professed Shopaholic

by ATFDC Contributor Dionna Humphrey

After a particularly draining meeting in the office, I needed to go for a walk. Being the self-professed shopaholic that I am, I decided to take a walk for some fresh air down to Forever21. I love F21 for a few reasons. One, it’s super affordable. Two, unlike a lot of other big retailers with plus size clothing options, F21 offers a lot of trendy clothes for curvy fashiontonians which is a big thing for me. I’ve always that that some designers and other retailers who step into the world of plus size clothing do their customers a disservice by providing most of the sizes but none of the style. Hence my appreciation for F21.

I didn’t have a lot of time since I was on a break, so I made straight for the plus size section. I immediately saw a fantastic pair of faux leather shorts that I had to try on. I’m obsessed with leather this fall, but I haven’t identified the right pieces to incorporate into my wardrobe. These shorts were edgy and would go perfect with a fitted cream turtleneck I have.

The good news- fit was perfect. They are short, so they aren’t very everyone. Once the weather cools down a bit, they will look great with tights and booties or platform heels. You could also pair these shorts with a semi-sheer black long sleeve top. The best part about these shorts? They are only $19.80! A great price to point if you don’t want to make a big investment in leather.

The bad news- they have very few left. The plight of the curvy fashiontonian is that we all want to look cute but we very few resources to choose from. So cute clothes fly off the shelves pretty quickly. They only had sizes 12-16 left in the store, and online they only have 12-14. So if you are an 18 or 20 you’re going to have to call around to see if anyone has them in stock. But I think it’s worth the work, they are a GREAT find.

Having affordable options in Metro Center is great; I managed to find something under $20 bucks in less than an hour. Not too shabby for a Wednesday afternoon.
