13 Sep Runway2DC: Farah Angsana SS13 – For Fashiontonians Seeking Soft Colors & Elaborate Embellishments
by ATFDC Contributor Susan Stipanovich
Since the launch of her Collection in Paris in 2000, Farah Angsana has become an international inspiration of design. Her fanciful and whimsical approach to couture is changing the world of fashion, as evident in her rapid and successful expansion into menswear, ready-to-wear and couture.
For her Spring 2013 Collection, she was inspired by the well-traveled woman, like herself, who has gone to Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, etc. The collection featured exquisite classic silhouettes in gowns, cocktail dresses and elegant separates treated with Angsana’s couture techniques; the vividly colored looks (featured in hues of blue, aqua marine, and coral) were embellished with sequins, lace, sheer paneling, Swarovski crystals, and embroidery. Angsana focused particularly on “a woman who got caught up in a love that brought a new sense of herself, blossoming into her thoughts and reinventing her life in every way, she travelled across Brazil Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro to explore the Amazonian culture.”
The collection reflects this fully as the designer experimented with new colors and techniques that showed off her craftsmanship. Angsana’s collection is perfect for the Fashiontonian seeking soft colors and elaborate embellishments to suit her figure and show off her fine taste. The pieces suit those wishing to make an impression whilst still exuding old-Hollywood glamour.

The perfect option for an event, which requires poise and polish, Angsana’s pieces would be ideal for formal dinner parties or posh events where photos will be taken and run. With the upcoming election there are endless events for which these gorgeous dresses would be appropriate as Washington prepares for a season of ruthless attention. These gowns would keep any Fashiontonian cool and glamorous under pressure at endless events.
