1970s chic has been seen everywhere from the runways to the showrooms for the last few seasons.  Designers such as Emilio Pucci, Hermés, Vera Wang, Nicole Miller, and Roberto Cavalli all embraced the trend for the fall shows.  The look has been popularized recently by Florence Welch, and slightly less recently by Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, and Rachel Zoe.  Boho-chic is one look that is fairly simple to put together, and also is perfect for fall because it lends itself so well to layering.  Obvious elements include floaty skirts in either white or bold, colorful patterns.

Boots, a fall staple as well as a great addition to a bohemian ensemble, are perfect for this season.  Coach makes a pair to die for with a perfect heel and fringe tassel detailing.  Another notable feature of this style is fur.  A fur-trimmed jacket can dress up any outfit and add an element of laid-back chic that exemplifies bohemian style.  Banana Republic makes a great, affordable fur vest, and Diane von Furstenberg makes an amazing lamb-fur version as well, available at CUSP.  Fashiontonian Rachel Zoe has been championing bohemian style for years, and with her new line available at Neiman Marcus it’s never been easier to gain access to her style.

One of the best features of bohemian style is the fantastic accessories that one gets to indulge in while channeling this look.  Fringed handbags are the perfect accessory for bohemian chic, with great versions being featured by Urban Outfitters, Rebecca Minkoff, and Ralph Lauren.  Another amazing accessory?  Hats.  Hedi Slimane sent models down his runway for Saint Laurent in Paris just last week with floppy fedoras that were the perfect accent to his 70’s themed collection.  Banana Republic makes a lovely felt panama hat that is both affordable and trés chic.  Maison Michel’s wide-brimmed hat trimmed with gosgrain ribbon has been spotted on street style blogs and is absolutely fantastic if one is looking to invest in a quality piece.

Now that all the apparel pieces are covered, it’s time to look to details of the look.  Hair should be loose and wavy, look to the masters of the style Giesle Bunchen or Rachel Zoe for inspiration. Keep make-up light and natural, with emphasis on the eyes.  With all of the hallmarks of bohemian style, one is sure to make others green with envy and be unbearably chic for the fall season.
